Being a sex object is flattering but that is not all I want to be.

I understand, in a way. I seriously doubt if anyone would look upon me as a "sex object," however I have been looked upon with scorn because I'm a student and not "working" to support my "family." My mother's co-workers perpetually give her grief over the fact that I'm in school and not working and doing "what a man should do." Likewise, my mother-in-law thinks I'm a loser because I'm in school and not working, yet she could care less that her daughter is also in school and not working -- because what the woman does in a relationship (work wise) doesn't matter (at least that is her opinion).

That's a really interesting perspective, because I don't think that anyone should have to aspire to be just one thing in their life. Thanks for the input because I think sometimes we forget that men shouldn't just be one thing either.
